Hoang Anh Gia Lai to build SE Asian Games athletes' village
Hoang Anh Gia Lai Company and Laos' Ministry of Finance signed a memorandum of understanding for the construction of apartments for athletes competing in the Southeast Asian Games next year.
According to the agreement, Hoang Anh Gia Lai, owners of Vietnamese topflight football championship V-League team's Hoang Anh Gia Lai, will provide a sum of US$14 million to build 1,000 rooms to serve the athletes at 25th SEA Games, to be hosted by Laos.
At the signing event over the weekend, the Bank for Investment and Development of Viet Nam also agreed to finance $100,000 for the SEA Games opening ceremony next December.
The Central Highlands Gia Lai Province-based company, which is one of the biggest investors in Laos with a total investment capital of $25 million, opened the Arsenal JMG HA-GL Football Academy last year in co-operation with England's Arsenal team, which is home to the biggest football training centre complex in Asia.
HCM City to host Asian U-13 women's football tournament
Thanh Long Sports Centre in HCM City will host the Asian U-13 women's Football tournament, said the Viet Nam Football Federation.
The event has drawn seven teams from China, India, Myanmar, South Korea, Singapore, Japan and Vietnam, who will be competing in a round robin for the championship.
Last year, Vietnam co-hosted the final round of Asian Cup along with Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia.
VTC to broadcast live World Women's Volleyball Grand Prix
Viet Nam Digital Television (VTC) will broadcast live six group matches of the World Women's Volleyball Grand Prix at the northern province of Vinh Phuc's Gymnasium this week.
Vietnam will host group B of the World Women's Volleyball Grand Prix - Brazil, Turkey, Kazakhstan and Germany on June 26-29.
VTC, who won right to broadcast all matches in the group, will provide data and information to World Volleyball Federation (FIBA) for televising matches from Vietnam to over 100 countries and territories worldwide.
The Grand Prix draws 12 top teams from Asia, Europe and America to compete in three groups with the five best going to the final round in Yokohama, Japan to compete for the total prize of US$2 million.
Brazil, the world runners-up, will meet Kazakhstan, while Germany will face Turkey in the opening matches on Thursday.
